One thing most people do not realize is, how 7th grade, 8th grade, 9th grade and 10th grade math (even 6th grade) all cover the same topics. Year after Year, the same thing is taught.
In 6th and 7th grade you learn shapes.
You learn the names of cylinders, cubes, pyramids etc. Find the area and volumes of the shapes.
But, in case you didn't realize it, it is also covered in 8th, 9th, 10th grade too.
Then there are angles in grade 7. You work out the angle in a straight line, the angle in a triangle, the angle in shapes etc etc. But you also cover this AGAIN in grades 8, 9, 10. So, do you see the point I am making. You are learning the same thing year after year.
When we are in grades 1 to 5 we cover the basic of maths, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
When these are more or less mastered, we move onto more higher maths such as area, volume, graphs, ALGEBRA.
But like I mention all over this site, algebra topic is looked over and not taken very seriously.
Where-as I believe its the most important topic to master.
Things only start to get interesting around about at the end of grade 10 and 11. Where pythagoras and trigonometry is introduced, and trust me the background understanding of these topics is irrelevant. All you have to know is that its JUST algebra. I keep going on about it in my homepage...its ALL algebra.
So for the first four to five years you cover the roots.
Then the next four to five years you cover the grounding and in the last few years you cover the branches and leaves.
If you were to carry on like myself onto higher maths you would be eating the fruits by now.
If you are looking for a particular subject or topic in maths, such as angles in a straight line, the area of a triangle. Then just pop those words in the search box.
The help you need is out there, all you have to do is search for it!
