My teacher told me to leave school and get a job instead!
After I did my GCSE exams I left school and went to Wirral Grammar 6th form, where I was doing my A'levels. I was struggling a little in the chemistry lessons. My attendance was poor and I struggled to do the classwork let alone the homework.
Wirral Grammar prides itself on grades and performance. If I get a low grade then it would bring the school down with shame. After one particular lesson, my chemistry teacher told me it would be best if I leave and get a job. I was so upset. Get a job doing what exactly? Picking rubbish up off the floor, cleaning the toilets?
I left. I left to go to the local college. Then I went to University to do a degree in Maths. Then I went back again to do an MSc in Maths.
I would love to rub my certificate in her face now. Not only is it uncommon for someone to have a Masters Degree in maths, but highly uncommon for a woman to have one. I was the only lady in the class out of 15.
My lesson to everyone...don't let anyone pull you down, even if it is an educator who is doing it!
